Bobber Ann

I'm tentatively calling the skin boat Bobber Ann. Because she's so corky! Remember the song?

Bobber Ann is a Platt Monfort design, the Sweet Pea 2. It is 8' 3" long by 30" wide and weighs a little over ten pounds or 4.6 kilograms. See my August 6, 2017 post, "New Boat!"

Monfort calls his designs Geodesic Aerolites. Here's his site:

The boat is built like an airplane wing used to be. The wood frame is glued together with no metal fastenings. The skin is dacron that's been heat shrunk and doped on the outside. Apparently the dope should not be absorbed into the fabric, or else it will kill the fabric's inherent strength and ability to resist ripping

Update:
As of October 1, 2018, Bobber Ann belongs to someone else. Fare thee well, wee one!
